Golden Beach is an affluent oceanfront town  just north of Aventura. With a population of just over 900, it is one of the smallest municipalities in the state. Incorporated in 1937, Golden Beach maintains a high degree of exclusivity, with minimum lot sizes requiring multimillion dollar homes. As a result, the town has frequently topped lists of highest median household income in the U.S.

With a population of over 20,000, Sunny Isles has grown tremendously in recent decades, fueled by international real estate investment and development. Demographically, the population is quite diverse but predominantly Hispanic and foreign-born, with around 70% of residents born outside the United States, many hailing from Latin America and Eastern Europe. Much of Sunny Isles has a cosmopolitan feel due to its large immigrant communities and international resort-style developments that cater to foreign homebuyers.
