With a combined population of around 104,000, North Miami and North Miami Beach have evolved from a working, middle class residential community established in the 1950s to a more diverse area today. Demographically, over 65% of residents are foreign-born, mostly Hispanic and Jewish immigrants from Latin America, Europe, and the Caribbean. As a result, North Miami has a strong cultural influence from these populations and is largely Spanish-speaking. Haitians also represent a significant portion of North Miami's residents.
